Ano que vincou o uso das apps do Spotify / Bandcamp e a crescente dificuldade em conseguir álbuns/EP's em CD; o vinil é agora o formato físico mais em voga. Há mesmo uma vaga de edições em cassete e até noutros formatos que julgava completamente extintos. Espero que um dia o CD volte a estar na moda. Quanto aos conteúdos, abaixo listo os que mais me agradaram chegados a público em 2019. Todos sujeitos a intensivas e prolongadas audições: em casa, especialmente com headphones, no carro e no trabalho (como fundo). Gostava muito de explicar os motivos pelos quais cada um destes álbuns/EP's tanto me agradam; seria no entanto uma tarefa bastante extensa (e nunca completa) se feita por escrito. E há cada vez menos tempo e menos pessoas interessadas em conversar sobre o assunto. A lista serve, assim, para me organizar mentalmente e fazer um breve balanço, mas também para memória futura. é uma árdua tarefa tentar resumir o percurso de ian svenonius, dos nation of ulysses a 2012. aqui parece estar algo suficientemente carnudo, para que toda a nossa atenção se volte para o álbum que saiu há cerca de um ano e que dá pelo nome de music's not for everyone. no rock-soul , os chain and the gang (um multifacetado combo que inclui a colaboração de diversos personagens de relevo, em especial alguns militantes da k records) injectam uma mescla de ironia e humor delirante, deixando marca mais que suficiente para integrar a já tão larga lista de coisas relevantes de 2011.

prometeu ser um ano extraordinário, mas foi perdendo gás com o avançar dos meses e o rarear de discos entusiamantes. voltei vezes sem conta ao passado. pela descoberta! não me rendo, ainda, aos braços da nostalgia.
hoje, a música pop é evolução, é uma esponja que absorve sons e conceitos de outro tipos de música, de sons existentes ou inventados, mas que vive fundamentalmente do seu próprio passado.

- os real estate têm em days, o seu segundo album, um outro momento mágico que os catapulta para o topo das preferências musicais do ano. com uma guitarrinha que parece vinda da 2ª divisão o enlevo cresce a cada momento e coloca-os no patamar da pop superior dos nada surf, de quem, insuspeitamente, herdam harmonias vocais. o cocktail é um cogumelo.

- as veronica falls, agora oficialmente estreadas em formato longo, mesmo que quase esmagadas por criticas de desapontamento, abrem um caminho que cruza as guitarras dos pixies e a intensidade dramática das breeders com as guitarrinhas de algumas das melhores coisas nascidas sob o selo da sarah records. as musicas, mesmo que já conhecidas através de um punhado de singles todos não menos que essenciais, sucedem-se sem stop ou skip. repeat.

- dean wareham, britta phillips e um baterista de quem não sei o nome, fizeram o melhor concerto de sempre desde 25 de maio de 2010. simplesmente magnificos, tocaram algumas das melhores canções que fizeram dos galaxie 500 uma das mais essencias bandas de sempre.

- albini, weston e trainer voltam ao porto em 2012, primavera sound. é um re-25-de-maio.

- entretanto há dois discos a aquecer o corpo e a deslumbrar a mente: no future dos wax idols e everything you always wanted to know about sea lions but were afraid to ask dos sea lions
